Each year, the Premios Gardel a la Música celebrates the best of Argentine music across a diverse range of genres and categories. Presented by the Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers (CAPIF), the ceremony’s honorees are chosen by a jury consisting of musicians, journalists, and other members in music media. This year’s nominations announced on May 7, 2021, highlighted the elimination of the division by female/male genders in award categories and included a new category entitled Best Live Album. The Orchard is proud to distribute the work of over 40 nominated artists for this year’s Premios Gardel!
Buenos Aires-based producer and singer, Barbi Recanati, took home Best Alternative Rock Album for her debut solo album, Ubicación en Tiempo Real, released via Goza Records. Recanati began her work in the music industry leading the Latin Grammy Award-nominated rock band Utopians for over twelve years. When Recanati launched her solo career in 2018 with her EP Teoria Espacial, her signature psychedelic and street-indie sound turned heads in the music industry. Recanati also founded Goza Records in 2018 with a mission of bringing women to the forefront of the music industry. To this day, Recanti owns the Argentinian label that has distributed her award-winning music as well as the work of an exclusively female roster.
Argentina trap star Bizarrap took home the win for Best Song, Best Urban/Trap Collaboration for his work on the hit song “Mamichula” and Best Urban/Trap song for his session with Nathy Peluso, titled “Nathy Peluso: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 36.”
Additionally, PopArt Discos artists took home the Mejor Álbum Grupo de Rock award for Las Pelotas’ Es Asi, as well as Mejor Álbum en vivo for Los Auténticos Decadentes’ Foro Sol.
