The 15th annual Headies award winners have been announced. The annual award show which took place in Atlanta earlier this month and celebrates Nigeria’s best music and artists from the past year.
New signee, Patoranking, won 2 awards, Three for Best Reggae & Dancehall Album and “Celebrate Me” for Best Recording of the Year. With Three having over a million streams, and features from Flavour, Sauti Sol, Tiwa Savage, and King Promise, it’s clear how the album became an international success. His latest distributed release with The Orchard, “Kolo Kolo,” has amassed over 4M views on YouTube.
Producer of the Year was awarded to Sarz for his collaboration with Lojay on “Monalisa.” Sarz is well-known for his craft for intertwining contemporary Afrobeats with Hip-Hop and R&B. This has given him the opportunity to work with artists worldwide such as, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Drake, Skepta, and Beyoncé. Lojay’s “Monalisa” peaked at #1 on Shazam’s Global Afrobeats Chart and reached #1 on Apple charts in Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda.
