The GME Dove Awards have been honoring and celebrating Christian music since 1969. The 49th annual awards were held on October 16, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. Take a look below at The Orchard’s friends and partners who were awarded during this genre’s special night.
Among this year’s winners included The Orchard distributed Jason Crabb (Daywind Records) who won Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year for “Washed By The Water.” But this isn’t a surprise as Jason won 21 Dove awards in his lifetime, having performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, and more.
Singer, songwriter, author and humorist Mark Lowry (Daywind Records) took home Southern Gospel Album of the Year for What’s Not To Love? Mark started making music at just 11 years old, and now over four decades later, he continues to make audiences reflect, laugh, and cry with his music and storytelling.
West Memphis-based gospel artist Jeklayn Carr (Lunjeal Music Group/New Day) had her first Billboard Top 5 single at only 15 years old. Now a few years later, she has been awarded her first Dove Award, following her dynamic crowd-standing performance at the 49th awards ceremony. Winning Traditional Gospel Album of the Year, her fourth album One Nation Under God debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums and Top Digital Gospel charts. The album’s lead single “You Will Win” stayed at #1 for six consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Gospel National Airplay Chart and five weeks at #1 on the Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart.
Watch Jeklayn’s stunning performance. Congrats to all of this year’s nominees and winners! In the words of Jeklayn, you’re all winners.
