The 2022 Latin American Music Awards revealed their winners on Thursday, live from Las Vegas for the first time ever. The theme for this year’s ceremony was “La Música Nos Une” (Music Unites Us). As always, the winners of the Latin AMAs were decided by the fans. Congratulations to The Orchard distributed partners on six wins!
Bachata legends Aventura solidified their spot as one of the most influential Latin groups of all time last night. The group won Favorite Duo or Group as well as Favorite Song – Tropical for their hit collaboration with Rimas Entertainment artist Bad Bunny. Blending bachata and reggaeton, “Volví” had a meteoric rise after its release in August of 2021. Signature guitar licks frame the track’s hooks. Its easy ability to reach audiences across the globe landed this song a win in the Tropical Song Category.
In addition to “Volví”’s Favorite Song – Tropical win, Bad Bunny also took home Favorite Artist – Male, Favorite Song – Urban, and Viral Song of the Year.
A collaboration between three superstars was sure to shake the world. With Nio Garcia, J Balvin, and Bad Bunny each adding their own signature styles to the hit song, “AM” went viral worldwide. Catchy reggaeton hooks keep the listener engaged throughout, leaving no question as to why this song landed a win in the Viral Song of the Year category.
San Juan-based Salsa orchestra El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico celebrates their 60th anniversary this year, making their win for Favorite Album – Tropical a two-fold milestone: an achievement in and of itself, as well as a commemoration of the musical virtuosity this group has shown for six decades. En Cuarantena kept its listeners company amidst the pandemic, showing off the group’s mastery of the tropical genre.
